Origins of National Love Your Pet Day

National Love Your Pet Day was started in 2006 by Colleen Paige. An avid pet lifestyle expert and an animal welfare advocate, she started the holidays to bring attention to caring for your pets and providing extra attention to them especially to shelter pets.

The holiday highlights the need for better care for pets and also promotes pet adoption. She also had started the holidays for National Dog Day (Aug 26) and National Cat Day (Oct 29).
